Attorneys are always looking for new ways to improve efficiency, saving valuable time and money. You should not overlook Excel as an option to do just that.
Excel can improve efficiency in two specific ways.
1. When used as a calendar
You can use Excel to track deadlines, plan daily tasks, and track billable hours and expenses. When used in this way, Excel can save you a lot of money because, rather than having to purchase a separate legal software, you can simply use Excel for these tasks.
2. When used for budgeting
Excel can be used to perform both simple and complex mathematical functions. So, it makes sense to use it for your firms overall budget, other financial matters, or even to organize complex data in a case.
NOTE: These examples are not an exhaustive list of each way Excel can save you time and money. Rather, these examples are meant to illustrate that Excel can be used as an inexpensive substitute for many legal softwares.
